Not bad but I'd rather just plug and go. The cost savings isn't worth it for me to use my own connector. Plus that allows for another potential failure point at the splice.

Genuine bosch only... If you use the Advance Auto coupons that pop up from time to time, you won't pay much more.

Meh, myself and several other have done the splice method with no problems. 5toes has a great writeup on it. I usually go OEM for everything, but for a part that is identical across several cars all you're really paying for is the proprietary BMW connector. It's only going to fail if you didn't do it right or your connector is somehow corroded and thus warrants replacing with an OEM unit. I used the NGK 4 wire for a Ford truck, did the heat shrink buttsplice, wrapped in in electrical tape then foil tape and it's working fine. Helped me pass emissions and saved me $90.

FWIW, my last genuine Bosch o2 sensor didn't work out of the box. Took me quite a while to figure that one out. I'd be willing to give that one a shot, but I'm using a wideband now.

^ True, if $100 is worth less to you than $30 and about 30 minutes (less if you know what you're doing), or if you aren't electrically proficient at a basic level and aren't willing to learn. But yeah, if you charge more than $140 per hour for your time and you have no free time, then $100 for the OEM part is definitely a better deal. For some of us who don't have more money than time, the cost savings provided by an o2 splice can easily help in another area of life (or in my case, pay for a chunk of new OEM plug wires).

I'm strapped too and while I see your point, I want to get in/get out when I do maintenance work. I'd rather just pull the old one and plug in a new one. The one I removed was spliced.

Subscribe to the closeouts on rockauto, I got a full tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, o2) for less than $200 shipped.

Yeah I'm not a fan of spicing stuff on my car unless i have no other option. I bought a new plug and play one from autohausaz for like $70 shipped. 10min job and no fiddling w wires which I really suck at!

BMA also have them for 70 .....and in the long term which one is going to last longer....sometimes cheap parts are a false economy....each to their own.

I've spliced many o2 sensors and never had an issue. All of the ones I've used were like $35 Bosch sensors off a mustang.

there is a O2 sensor plug and play that is alot longer. BAVAUTO used to sell it cant remember the P/N which would allow you to find the best price but could do some digging
