Can't get the injector harness clips off!

So I've read a number of methods for removing the injectors and none of them have pics on how exactly to remove these dumb clips. Most people say a screwdriver but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the tip of the screwdriver parallel with the clip groove to push it all the way back. It would have been far more helpful if BMW made them like the temp sensor plug clips. Anyway, here's what I'm looking at for reference.

Here's the backside of the clip, I'm guessing this has to come out towards me?

Here's the "front" of the clip, the little metal bar doesn't extend across the clip over the injector so I have no idea how to push it back. There's very little room to get in there with anything.

Finally, I can see the fuel rail bolts, but there's no way I can get anything to them without removing the harness first.

Help is much appreciated, I'm trying to get them out to send to MEPEH for cleaning/testing.

just pull up on the harness. it pops off. you don't have to remove the clips.

again, you don't need to pull the clips off. just pry up on the harness. they are designed so you don't have to do anything with the clips.

          Just pull

Also remove the valve cover, will make things easy not to mention it's nearly impossible to get the injectors out with it on.

Fuel rail bolts are simple and just need a 10mm socket with an extension

            Force upwards, you just apply

I remember I raged because I couldn't get the injector harness off one time to work on the Thermostat housing; it took me 30 minutes of trying until I grew fed-up and just rage-yanked it and it popped right off.

The mechanisms in the clip is just a metal clip that acts as a spring so it doesn't pop off unintentionally; pulling on it and applying enough force will take it off no problem.

I use a 90 degree dental pick. I get down on the side of each one and cock it around at 45 deg angle. That way you dont risk breaking the clips or plastics. Anyway it will come off if you yank hard enough though.

Well I bought a dental pick (wanting to err on the side of not-broken injectors) and got the first one somewhat loose, started wiggling it and wound up popping the first three off then was able just to wiggle the rest off. I guess I got lucky it was just the first one that was stuck, it had all sorts of crud on the inside of the connector. Thanks for the help! Now I just gotta get those injectors out.

Just pull. GENTLY. Start at one end, get that popped off, then work the other end. Once they're both up, pull on both end at the same time to pop the middle ones off. Every time one lets go, move your hands farther towards the middle to avoid snapping the plastic harness.

If you try the screwdriver/dental pick method, you'll be in there for hours. And you'll probably launch a few clips into the engine bay where they'll be lost forever.

Update - I'm glad I got my injectors out.

Yeah, I'd say it's time for a rebuild.

I used the bitch clip tool from harbor freight to pull up on the entire wiring assembly. Worked great.
