All about a budget my friend. No doubt a 3.2L could put down ~220whp with the right build, but it ain't going to be cheap.

2.8L, 14:1 comp, E85 fuel, peak power at 8000rpm. 259 kw at the wheels, thats 347 whp.

Here's the thread where the builder talks about it, some doubt the dyno results but I didn't read the whole thread to see the outcome.

you can probably get like 230 out of a streetable M20. Anything more than that would make it just annoying to drive from what i have read. The M20 isnt a massive powerhouse of an engine. Honestly if you want to make a powerhouse M20 sad to say requires forced induction. If you are going to make a extreamly powerful engine N/A the M20 is not the way to go. But if you are hell bent on a insainly powerful M20 then just look into what other people have done. With the amount of money they spent on an M20 a Stock S38 or a S54 would just eat it for breakfast and cost about the same in the end.

                            on a side note

that is not a vary fun build the cam would make it idle like shit. Im getting a 293 for my M30 and thats border line in my opinion.

not sure what the max is but in the process of doing a 3.0 with itbs, headers, custom tune from Mark D and aiming for 220-230 range to the wheels.
