Rocker arm shaft

    Rocker arm shaft

    So I broke the two front rockers..#1 cyl. I have slid the shafts back to the firewall, now they are stuck and I can't move them..what is the issue I have tried everything.,why are they stuck? Any help? Ay ideas? Thanks

    You need a belt wrench to twist and turn them back toward the front of the car.

      I used some emery cloth wrapped around the shaft then grabbed that with channel locks. Gently pivot the shaft and pry against the firewall with a pry bar.

        Don't grab it where the rockers ride if you do this as it is going to score the shaft.

          I can't get it. I started to take the head off shit. I have zero time. I almost want to drop in a motor. :) I just can't get the intake side to move plus the exhaust side get bound up it is a mess

                Did you relieve the rocker tension by sliding the rockers off the valve stems? This is typically the first step in removing the rocker shafts.

                  Oh yeah. Two rockers are stuck on the shaft and the shaft won't move. I give up. Setting fire to it tonight. :)

                    In the time you've been thinking about it you could have just pulled the head and done it the right way.

                      Huh? I am in the process, but I have two stripped head bolts, the torx heads are messed up..hence why I went this route. I have everything loosened except these two head bolts...how can I get these out?

                        You can grind the heads off those stuck head bolts w/an angle grinder. Remove them after you get the head off.
