    325ix head question

    Hello all,

I have an 87 325e with the eta engine. My friend had a 1988 325IX that gave him transmission problems and was rusted a little too much for repair without major $$$. He has the whole engine and he said if i went and picked it up it was mine.

My question is is 325ix head the same as "i" head? i want to do the "i" head swap on my eta for later turbo applications. he has the ECU for his too wich i can have but i dont know as being IX it changes in anything compared to the "I" ECU. Just in case i have an "I" ECU.

I want to do the whole head swap including intake, ecu etc. And if the head works would it be prudent to throw some ARP bolts in there while i do the swap for the latter turbo setup?

    Thanks

The ix head and ecu are the same as an I. You should be good to go.

Do you need to change the wiring harness with a I swap? In that case the ix wiring harness is a little bit different. Don't quote me on this but I believe just a few wires a longer but I'm not positive on that

the only difference in the harness is the wiring for the ABS, which the '87 car won't have, so it doesn't matter.

also clip pin 20 from the C101 to avoid a fire.
