    m20 engine craziness

Stupid thought.....so I know the i head is better in every way except the combustion chamber is bigger. So can you put the springs and cam from an i motor in a eta cylinder head and run it on an i motor. Compression ratio would raise slightly but the only thing that made me think of this is, is because eta heads are cheap as hell.

yup. you cant put an eta head on an I bottom. it wont clear the crown of the piston.

Also, OP, this could be the 3rd dumbest idea in practicality I've seen posted this year.

Eta heads are cheap for a reason. They are not desirable.

You CAN modify an Eta head by porting/polishing to match i gaskets and drilling oil journals to make some good power but it would need to be paired with the Eta bottom end. It's a lot of work though.

A standard "i" head machined down to 4.909" has a combustion chamber volume of 37cc's. The same as an "e" head.

It's not that I want a high compression 2.7l, I just want my motor to not smoke as much. I'm going to do the valve seals this month and hopefully that's does the trick.

Aren't the ports on an eta head smaller than an i?
