    Bentley and timing belt

I've been seeing those "nightmare" threads and I am going to do the water pump/timing belt job. I have a bentley. Is there anything beyond the bentley worth noting? Any common mistakes to avoid?

A very common mistake is to screw up the cam timing after replacing the belt. Once you have the new belt on, rotate the motor at least two full rotations and then check to make sure the cam and crank timing marks still line up. Then you can tension the belt. Even one tooth off can cause crappy running. Multiple teeth off risks valve-to-piston contact.

Just be careful, don't rush, do one thing at a time. It's not a difficult job, just rather long.

Mark your CPS and CID plugs because they are identical and can get swapped around causing a no start. The plugs are located under the diagnostic connector. Also take the hood off and the radiator out for more room.

I've not taken the hood off for this job, but definitely pull the radiator. Get a wrench for the fan clutch nut beforehand, if you don't already have one.

Thanks for the tip, I will do the sensors for sure! And taking the hood off is a great idea as well especially because mine won't hold itself up so I use the jack pipe XD

No doubt! Everywhere I've read says pull the radiator and luckily I already have the wrench. Thanks redlightpete!
