I've been seeing those "nightmare" threads and I am going to do the water pump/timing belt job. I have a bentley. Is there anything beyond the bentley worth noting? Any common mistakes to avoid?

A very common mistake is to screw up the cam timing after replacing the belt. Once you have the new belt on, rotate the motor at least two full rotations and then check to make sure the cam and crank timing marks still line up. Then you can tension the belt. Even one tooth off can cause crappy running. Multiple teeth off risks valve-to-piston contact.
Just be careful, don't rush, do one thing at a time. It's not a difficult job, just rather long.1989 325i Lachssilber Sedan

No doubt! Everywhere I've read says pull the radiator and luckily I already have the wrench. Thanks redlightpete!BMW tech
