As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man. -
ah, I need a load levelizer

There's a little loop at the very back of the block on the drivers side right below where you mount the head. It'll be right below the coolant connector at the back of the head.Originally posted by ColdAccordah, I need a load levelizer

Then in the front, I mounted it to the loop there.- Sean HayesComment

That, and my hood isn't on yet. Still looks hot!
Pictures soon! I'm finally going to leave here in about a half hour or so to do my driving - should be a fun evening. I'm going to be takin tons of pictures too. Tell you guys what...they will be up tomorrow morning - promise! lol
I'm amazed at the response of this thread, it's actually pretty neat! I have people following this! hah- Sean HayesComment

Quick update - pictures tomorrow! lol
There is now about 91 miles on my new engine. it's running like a champ! Minus a couple small coolant leaks that I still need to nail down - it's running AWSESOME!
Been doing lots of half throttle runs in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears from 2 grand to between 3500 and 4 grand. Goin up hills, down hills, and just plain puttin load on those rings. It seems to be wearing quite nicely!
Been driving without the hood, and the front end has even settled some. The car looks BADASS! Rolled my front right fender again tonight - time to get the fender roller on there before I damage it too much!
You'll have to take my word for it for now. Hopefully I'll have an opportunity to do a full blown photoshoot hoodless not too long from now! :D
The thing has gobs of torque, even at half throttle! i CANNOT WAIT to open this up!!!! :D- Sean HayesComment

I forgot to mention that. I changed my oil once already, at around 30 miles. Put another 60 miles on the new oil last night. I was thinkin I'd change again at around 150 miles (so another 60 miles).Originally posted by The SlyGood stuff..happy you love the acceleration..With about 90 miles i would open her up no prob now...Make sure you change the oil and filter again...Cheap insurance.- Sean HayesComment

if you are gonna have issues to worry about that warrants changing the oil to check for (metal shavings) you have already done it once I wouldn't change it until 500 miles as a second check and then leave it be from there and change every 2500-3k.

Ah, well, the oil looked very clean, didn't notice any metal at all!Originally posted by workaholicif you are gonna have issues to worry about that warrants changing the oil to check for (metal shavings) you have already done it once I wouldn't change it until 500 miles as a second check and then leave it be from there and change every 2500-3k.

Cool, I'll wait a while now. ;)
And how long should I wait until going to full sythetic - Mobil 1 15w50? I remember seeing 10,000 miles. Should I really wait that long?- Sean HayesComment

No, Synthetic I would change around 5,000-6,500 miles just to be on the safe side. I think 10k is way too long.

I think he meant how many miles should he put on the motor before going to synthetic from dino oil. I would go synthetic after 500 miles, This is what I have been told is ok by my machinist that built the motor for my e36 318 (built low comp turbo motor) as for intervals, it really depends. Personally on my 318 when its up and going i'm probably going to go every 3-4k with 20w50 amsoil race oil but thats cuz i get it at dealer cost :)Originally posted by PeaveyBassistNo, Synthetic I would change around 5,000-6,500 miles just to be on the safe side. I'll probably change my oil again at 500, run Castrol GTX once more and then change it at the 1500 mile mark and move over for my 15w50 Mobil 1. Sounds good?
Got a ton of pictures today. I'll get them up soon! :D
