I hear ya dude! All 6 of my cylinders had "love taps" on em. So, I'm guessing someone let a timing belt go pretty badly - left nice guages in all 6 of my cylinders!

I can take some pics of my I head then you can use your imagination. Ya I wanted to get the ports closer but there isn't much material up top, so I just smoothed the edges.

Right now the engine is about 80% complete, tommmorw morning I'm going to yank the old engine and start transfering over some of the hoses, tranny, flywheel etc..

Here are some pics of it all assembled. I would of painted everything but I did that before with the m30, and I didn't get all that much enjoyment out of it. I'll just hose down the engine every so often to keep it from turning black :p

I started to tear down the car, the old engine will come out in the morning :)

I sort of watched it in slow motion also as a two men and a truck moving van rolled backwards into my car :( All the other damage has been repaired so far but the hood.

Did you ever get your cash settlement from the insurance company?

BTW.. at the very least paint the valve cover with some black VHT wrinkle paint.

Got the engine yanked this morning, then just finished getting the new one ready to drop in, of course it just started raining, but looks like it will clear fast.

Did you have the i exhaust on it before the swap? Which flywheel are you running? What rear are you going to run?

Curious to see what you think. I have been very pleased with mine. Low end is pretty much the same, but it comes on real hard after 4k. I need to run at least a 3.25 lsd to get it in the rpms a little quicker. 2.93 isnt enough. Still I should be running to 60 right about 7 seconds, and the quarter in mid 15s.

I had the I muffler on it before the swap. So I'm just leaving the exhuast as is for now, but adding I manifolds. I'm running the eta single mass for now, I wish I had the money for an I one at the time but it was out of the budget. I've already have a limited slip 3.25 in it so it will be fun:p

On a side note, the engine is in, tranny is all mounted up as well as the driveshaft. I'm just taking a short break then I'll start the wiring process, and hooking up everything else. I should be ready to start it first thing tommorow morning.

I felt the same way about my stroker.. way back in the day I spent a lot of time cleaning and painting the engine and every little nut and bolt when I did my v8 swap in the '67 dart. but after a year, I really didn't care what it looked like. with my stroker I wanted it in my car and running smoothly, so I just cleaned everything up. knowing there's not 2" of grime on everything is good enough for me.

I think I went thru the same phase. lol I just did that, and although it looks good - I find myself caring less and less about how my car looks and more so about a leak there and a vibration here. lol

                              In she goes

                              Resting in place

Started snaking wires threw the m3 firewall cover

tidies up the wiring very nicely

I've got the battery tray cover, but I can't get it in place with the wires that run to the coil, and o2 sensor on the I harness. Oh well, I'll probally leave it off.
I should be able to start the engine up tommorow morning.

She's alive, I couldn't believe how fast the engine started, I bridged the fuel pump relay to build up pressure, and with in just a few cranks it fired right to life. Was running exteremly ruff, but that was becuase I got the 2 lines on my Adjustable FPR hooked up backwards, It was running with 100psi of fuel in the rail for a little bit  I got those swapped around and it runs nice and smooth with a 700 rpm idle. The coolant system bled with no problems and I drove it around town for about 20 miles getting a feel for the new found power. I absolutely love it, chirps the g-sports in first gear accelerating no problem, and pulls like a train. The engine sounds so dang mean it's not funny, the thing revs like a bat out of hell. I have no idea what duration this cam is, all I was told is it's an aftermarker performance 325i unit. I haven't even hit the revlimiter yet as there just is not the need like the eta would always need to get moving.
