.015 Throttle plate clearance AND Throttle Position Switch

Been chasing a high idle when warm and been addressing several problems one at a time. Red neck smoke test shows no leaks. The ICV, controller and related sensors seem to be good. The one thing I'm struggling with is the .015 throttle plate clearance. Mine is almost zero. But, if I get the .015 clearance, I can't get the throttle position switch to close.

    Any insight?

isn't the throttle switch slotted for adjustment?

Yes and IIRC the throttle should have .003. The gap is only to insure your tps can close so the icv can manage idle

Whatever you adjust it to put a continuity tester on the tps and rotate it til it goes to zero then lock it down

Thanks all! I thought I read that the throttle plate needed .015, mine is probably closer to .003 mentioned above so maybe I'm good.

The throttle position switch is slotted, I can't seem to get .015 AND the switch at the same time. I can get one or the other, not both.

I'll continue my search. Very frustrating but I'm not giving up quite yet! Other than this, the car seems to run pretty well. I've been beating back one problem at a time. Fully expected most of this when I bought the car, was looking for a project...and I have one!

Add in someone in the car's previous life buggered the head of the throttle stop screw which is an entirely different saga.

Leave the feeler gauge in the throttle body while you adjust the tps.
