M20 Stroker Questions (What have I done wrong?)

    Hi there!

First time posting on the forums so hi!

I'm trying to do a m20 stroker conversion, I don't know a lot about the build but I'm learning.

    I have a 323I chassis, B27 bottom end with a B25 head + a bavarian Motorsport intake I got off a wrecked b25 engine.

The problem is I can't get the engine to start, it cranks but simply wont start. I was wondering if I am missing something? or the 323i ecu won't work with this engine?

    In desperate need of help!

What year is the car, what year harness do you have, and what version motronic is your ecu

Sorry I didn't post much info.

      It's a 1985 323I, It has L-jetronic engine management system. I'm assuming this isn't compatible? Does the b27 require a motronic system?

My understanding is that if you switch to the b25 head, intake and other accessories you need the b25 engine harness and ecu to accompany it.

I suppose you don't have to, though. People do that for the higher rpm, more aggressive tune, and more horsepower. IE, you're not just wasting your time.

But if you kept the same transmission and same engine harness and everything else, why wouldn't it start?

Raz, where's your crankshaft position sensor?

Check for spark and fuel, then go from there.

Im guessing it wont start because the distributor on the b27 is on the camshaft and the b23 had the distributor on the block. I still have the b27 dissy on at the moment.

I read on the forums that if I want to run l-jetronic on the b27, I have to swap over the dissy from b27 to b23 and then swap my afm from a 325?

you should be able use the same ecu. sensors etc as before ? eventually you will want the b25 ECU and associated electronics
