Update for anyone that cares: put in a new cps and start up was rough but it gradually seems to be getting better. Gotta wait for a hot day to know if the problem remains

Glad to hear that was the no start culprit, you should try cleaning out your icv with a shit ton of carb cleaner and maybe do a seafoam treatment, clear the m20's throat

It was a hot one yesterday and guess what! It had the same symptoms and wouldn't start. After driving for a bit when ever i would let it idle it would stay at 1500 rpm. Then after I turned the car off it wouldn't start back up.

I have an eBay chip in it. Could that be the problem?

How did that happen to the sensor? Wow.

What did/does the other one look like? (You have two in the bell housing).

Wouldn't be surprised if it was your ICV/ICM. If it has failed/closed in the wrong position it can prevent the car from starting. To test this, you could temporarily replace the ICV with a section of tubing with a penny with a small hole drilled in it (aka the "penny trick").

There are two sensors. I tried the cps and I got the other one so I'll try switching those and see what happens.

I'll try the test thx! My next buy is an icv anyway cause mine has always been a little jankey.

Also note that a bad ICV can cause excessive current draw and damage your ICM, so you might have to replace or repair that as well.

Going to install ICV. In the meantime I took out my eBay chip and it helped a little. I have to wait for a hot day to make sure

Quick update. Changed the icv and no difference. The no start stopped after I took out the ebay chip. Want to do a smoke test but I need to find someone in the Santa Barbara area with one.
