    piston wear

I was told that these pistons are good to go as long as there are no scoring on ring lands, piston is round and ring lands themselves are withing the spec.
Looks like typical wear from what I've seen on other M20 used pistons around here. Engine was totally operational when disassembled, around 160k miles.

    Can someone confirm?

you can measure the skirts to see how close they are to original spec. The Bentley manual tells you the measure point, it doesnt give actual wear limits but you can get some idea

The skirts look rough- clean and check ring lands,
but most that Ive pulled that had that much scuffing also had
      way too much land wear.
      160k is a lotta miles...

Were they KS pistons? I'm actually very surprised how they look after 160k. . ~3.3063" so skirt diameter is still ok (marks are very minor). ring side clearance is still well within the range as well.

ks and mahle, both. But if they measure ok, go for it!

Most of what I start with are cores...
