I recall an oil filter mod that allows you to use a roll of toilet paper as a filter. Personally I recommend the "aloe" paper for its extra soothing feel

^ That actually works incredibly well.
it slowly cleans the oil by just diverting alittle bit through it.
the filter is so fine it basically filters everything out.

What are you guys using for filters? My local Advance Auto will stock anything I ask them to, but I think I'm going to just use regular Purolators like I do with Japanese and American stuff. Are there any compelling arguments to use something weird?
i just use genuine ones. here they are close enough to the same cost as the aftermarket Mahle type which are probably the same part but anyway.

Really? I would think that the toilet paper would disintegrate over time.

if you wrap it in the biodegradable compost bags it will last for 3k miles before shredding. make sure you rinse out the filter afterwards and re-oil the seal.

Not worth the time and effort. Just buy a good filter and change the oil in good interval should be fine.
