    M20 Crankshaft Position Sensor

    p/n 009110521

any issues with Hella unit? People seem to recommend OEM and by looking at them both, looks like Hella was OEM supplier...no?

no one ever tried Hella unit?

Isn't Bosch supposed to be OEM?
Either way, Hella is also a quality brand so shouldn't be a problem I guess

I just got the Hella CPS off rockauto for friggin $43. What a deal. Looking into it, Hella was OEM on pretty much all future BMW's. I can see Facet or Febi or whatever being junk, but it's hard to believe the Hella one will not perform.

I wonder if the Hella ones are a recent thing... I've never seen anyone else mention it.

I picked mine up from the dealer. Came in a metallic baggy and was a bosch unit. I figure i’d spend the extra money for the insurance of having the best part possible since it’s pretty crucial to the car running properly.

The plastic cased ones in my opinion do not last. This at least includes Febi. I went through several CPS with my Megasquirt m20 stroker.

The sensor that protrudes incased in plastic? Mine was metal from the bracket hole forward.

What you have is the right kind. The febi is black plastic (after the bracket hole) with a circular sensor part sticking out of the end.

it might not be the sensor but MS ability to "detect" it. it seems like a common issue. i've used a plastic sensor for 10 years without issue, could be luck though. having said that i would buy an OE one next time but last time i didnt want to wait, so aftermarket it was

Which did you purchase that fixed your issue?

Yeah I can believe part of my problem was through MS.

I ended up buying one labeled as Genuine. Was about twice the price iirc.

I did some research and it looks like Hella is OEM sensor, at least on my 90's M20. New Hella sensor has the same symbols as OEM one but BMW symbol on the sensor and BMW word on the plug are melted off. 1/3 price of OEM which is nice

So I got mine (Hella CPS off rockauto) and installed it and it works perfect. The only thing is that, even though the pictures showed it as the metal ones like OEM, it has the plastic cap with the metal dot at the end like the aftermarket ones. It is definitely a hella part though, came in a Hella box and has it printed on the wires. Time will tell if it lasts but... Seems to work great. Shoot, if the OEM BMW is $170, and this Hella one was $43 (~60 now), I'd have to go through about 4 until the cost equalizes. and it takes like 20 mins to install. Seems like a no brainier to me unless it craps out before the year ends. Which is very doubtful since it's an OEM brand.

I paid around 120 for a dealer part (friend hook up) so for me it was worth the extra money. But hella is usually good so it should be okay.

Do you have the part number or know which one you went with? I'm having problems with my m20 turbo on megasquirt. So far I've tried American Standard and Meyle which are both junk.

Thinking of getting a Bosch or just going to the dealer and getting an OEM one there at whatever the cost is.

Also, what issues were you running into? I can't rev past about 5k rpm, bounces like it's hitting the rev limiter.
