I believe it goes by the round diagnostics plug. There is 2 plugs there that have a bracket to hold them in place, one of them is that one.

It should be to the left of the oil dipstick, look slightly under the bracket that holds the round diagnostic plug. you should have two slots that hold the two parts of the connector in it. One is for the CPS connector and the other is the Spark plug thingy you are looking to remount...

Looks like he is saying that hes diagnostic plug is by the firewall.
Look behind the thermostat housing, the plug should be there. Also If I remember correctly, that wire gets tucked into the plastic shield (the same one with the crank sensor wire). This way it won't get messed up by the water pump pulley when routed to the other side of the engine

Hey gents, as above my diagnostics plug is by the firewall, i cant believe im sayying this but i honestly still cant find where to plug it. I looked around for most of the day. The wire bends gives me reason to think it came off the front of the motor. My diagnostics plugs is not closeby. Its a 3pin connection (male) it fits into both the iacv plug and the throttle position pmug but it obviouspy cant be those. I vaguely remember unplugging it from a bracket but this was months ago.

The cars a u.k e34 525. Any helps greatly appreciated
            Merry christmas!

On an E30, it's the twin to the crank position sensor, right next to it, and it's at the front
left corner of the engine, behind the thermostat.

It's right next to the crank position sensor plug on an m20, e34 or e30. In reality, you don't need it, the car will run fine without it, but will not run if you mix it up with the CPS plug, as they are identical.
