Thanks all. From the tips and additional reading, the TPS and CPS are worth taking a further look at.

UPDATE...found a local bmw lover who has started his own website and ebay store, he did not have a crank position sensor listed so i messaged him and he had one left, it is used, i sent him a payment via paypal and 2 days later "today" i hooked it up to my car and now my car runs perfect, big thanks to the guy over at www.nsawerke.com check him out!!!

I've been having the same problem in my 88. I noticed it would only do it after I hit the reflectors on the freeway while changing lanes. And then it would do it on the on ramp when I am getting up to speed. I changed my Ignition coil and it ran bitchin for a day. After the coil change and a day later it started misfiring bad. I ordered the CPS and changed it out, Now the car runs kind of better. There still is a very intermittent stumble that occurs 2 times in each drive. I am still trying to figure out what is causing it. I have the 153 dme and every time it bucks the CEL comes on but its only for a split second and then it runs smooth again.
