BTW this is not Bimmer e30's list. Its mine. The Cartech rrfpr is set at ZERO gain and is only being used to set the base fuel pressure. Right now, i've tuned it to 13.5 AFR at WOT on a Innovate LM-1. It is in fact not drowning the motor in fuel with 24lb injectors or some crap like that. Its running REALLY really well. Took a brand new 07 or 08 Maxima by 3 cars to 120.

QFT! I loved my chipped eta. It kept up with a stockish MKIV GTI. I love my 2.7i better tho :)

I have the Turner chip in my car, and it blows the eta motor wide open.

I had the exact same chip on my eta. Made a world of difference. I took all the "perormance" stuff off my car so it did not go to waste before my swap and I almost teared up when I drive it again. It was like it had a 1000lb trailer behind it compaired to when it was chipped.

I realize this is not a "chip or not to chip an eta" thread so I though I would put this Question out there, Do you plan on turbo-ing the car? If not than unless you have a gang of parts laying around even for a budget build its a bit spendy to get the correct supporting mods. If you plan on adding a turbo than you are on a good track for a really budget build that will impress compared to what you are in now.

-The eta responds to chipping more that the "i" motor does. Shouldn't hurt longevity much, just don't bounce it off the rev-limiter! The factory rev-limit on an 88 s-eta is 5300, same as an eta chip. And the s-eta has only one valve spring as well!

Ok so how much power did your chip add to your ETA?

OP posted about doing a SETA bottom end and "i" head. Which would be atleast a 40-60 WHP.

Is your car more "peppy" or did it actually make a huge power difference?

Well fuck I stand corrected. 28 ft-lbs of torque and 24 HP is indeed not a waste of time for a couple hundred bucks. (Most N/A cars don't get that kind of power from just a chip)

Anyone know how much HP a bone stock ETA puts down?

Ok looks like chipped etas put down around 120 WHP

eta bottom end with "i" head cars put down around 140 WHP

seta bottom end with "i" head cars put down around 160 WHP.

If I put a price on what it cost me to make 138 WHP on my car it would be around $700 bucks including the Megasquirt and head etc.

If you picked up a set of seta pistons I'd imagine you can do it for around $1000.

I have about 4gs into my turbo setup and plan on making 350 WHP to give you an idea.

I made 110 RWHP and 143 RWTRQ bone stock on my eta. With the chip I made 134 RWHP and 161RWTRQ. SO, yea its makes a big difference. Ask Stereoinstaller, I am the car he raced. Also, Mr. Anderson has seen my car bounce of the revlimiter many a times as I (and others) painted a parking lot in Bend. Your valve springs will be fine!

You what sucks ass, Ryan? Andrew and I drove up there one day, and they repaved that parking lot, forever burying the evidence of our destruction. It's a conspiracy.

I've always wondered. For the i head swap do you need to swap the pistons, or can you just throw the top end on without touching the bottom end?
