Performance Cam Question-

Looking for a aftermarket cam for my stroked M20-

288 too aggresive, looking to stick with a 272 in order to use stock ECU with proper fueling, (chipped)

My question is, The Shrick 272 is pushing the $600 mark...
however, I find Ireland Enginering Cams for less than $350...

is the difference thagt remarkable?

in all honesty its probably not but unless IE give you some decent specs to look at and compare with the schrick look elsewhere. Atleast with the schrick you'll know what you're getting.......its better tthan a stab in the dark.

I believe the IE one is a reground cam where as the Shrick is not. That complicates things when comparing them directly.

Personally, I would never buy a regrind, but I will agree $600 is a bit much.

I'm a little confused by the term "regrind" is it essentially the same as a 'rebuild'?

where a customer would sent their core piece in, and wait for they're new cam?

is anyone running a IE 272 cam?

they grind down the base circle in an attempt to increase the duration and lift

it "works" but there is more to cam than peak lift and duration - you're not going to get a lot from a regrind.

I would recomend a CAT cam from flyingbrickperformance.com They used to have a 272 cam that was more aggressive then a Shrick. DOn't see it list on there site now but email and see if you can get one. Also with a regrind you'll need oversized ecentric's to adjsut valves and this add's to the cost of the cam.

Prices seem descent aswell
