    M20 oil pressure sensor adapter

Any good ideas to mount the oil pressure sensor and at the same time maintain stock cluster light operational as designed? Is there a way to go of the sensor alone for that (reading the actual pressure on the aux display and operating the dummy light at the same time)? Or I would need both, the sensor and the switch? Anyone knows how Alpina had the oil sensor integrated?
I found the adapter from Bimmerheads (pictured). Any feedback? My concern with that setup: that oil will never be able to drain from that adapter, possibly gunking up both units over time.

My Aux pressure display uses the sensor that is the same size as stock oil switch.

We will have a new product soon, for this exact situation. Nice clean OEM setup. Just have to finish a couple more piston modifications and they will be in the lathe.

VDO makes a pressure sensor that will send both a variable signal to a gauge and an idiot light that will turn on at or below 8.5 psi, close to the stock 7 psi. I was searching their inventory on summit last week and cross checked the part numbers with VDO spec sheets and viola. No need for three sensors if your idea is to implement oil pressure and temp gauges along with keeping the original oil indicator light.

unfortunately it's out of spec for my unit, it needs 5V powered sensor. What do you guys think about a sandwich plate mounted sensor (between the cooler adapter and the filter)?

Just above the oil pressure switch. I picked up a whole bunch of the big banjo bolt that goes through the oil filter adapter (11421711071). The plan is to center drill and tap them to 1/8" NPT. Not only convenient for a gauge, this will also give turbo guys a place to easily get a supply line. This way you don't need any 14mm adapters, extensions etc and can even keep the idiot light.

stock location, it needs an adapter that screws into the stock location as the VDO is too fat and the one i had was different thread iirc. i think i used one i got from BMP design when they still existed.

Great ideas! Turbo peeps still need pressure feed, and race cars prefer mechanical gauges. Still relevant. ;)

So, the VDO still needs and extension/adapter? Never tried one, always used the dummy light locale and Autometer makes a nice 14mm pipe to 1/8" NPT for short money. Forget the part number, and may fix this post in the morning,e they are hanging on the office wall, but 2267 comes to mind.

decided to go with the sandwich plate between the filter and the oil cooler adapter. 14mm for the temp. sensor and 1/8npt for the oil pressure sensor. Another two spare ports. $18 isn't a bad price. Just have to tap for 14mm temp. sensor since this thing has all 4 ports as 1/8npt. Any concerns with this setup?

Any updates here on your efforts? Some good info around here, looking to add some oil info off my motor.

sweet, might need to cop, thanks for the reply! I got hasty and ordered a sandwich plate, but realized, I only really need to run oil temp at the filter housing.... unless, I don't suppose the chunky oil pressure sender would mount to the sandwich plate AND fit between the headers and block and still give an accurate reading (too close to header?)
