        I've always wanted to do a V8 swap from a late 540 (alusil block). Something about having a genuine BMW V8 in an E30 just tickles me the right way..

            i've transplanted an e39 m5 engine and box into an e30.
            quite an easy swap really, no hammering of the bulkhead needed.
            electrics were the hardest part.

              Didnt' you have to relocate the brake booster? master cylinder to the front of the car?

                                I was looking at this conversion a while back, when you say the electrics were the hardest part, did you sort them yourself, or get someone to do it for you? Did you use the "fly by wire" throttle, and what other electrical components (such as EWS etc) did you have to retrofit from the M5, or was it simply a case of running some wires to the engine harness connector? I have an E36 M3 Evo motor and box I am going to fit, although the s62 conversion still really appeals to me.Thanks in advance, Conrad
