I've always wanted to do a V8 swap from a late 540 (alusil block). Something about having a genuine BMW V8 in an E30 just tickles me the right way..Comment

quite an easy swap really, no hammering of the bulkhead needed.
electrics were the hardest part.
Didnt' you have to relocate the brake booster? master cylinder to the front of the car?Recent Rebranding!!

Sorry, that is because we kicked your asses a couple of hundred years ago so freeking hard that you were too confused to see what side of the road you were SUPPOSED to be on...not my fault!
I say buck the trend, man...

I was looking at this conversion a while back, when you say the electrics were the hardest part, did you sort them yourself, or get someone to do it for you? Did you use the "fly by wire" throttle, and what other electrical components (such as EWS etc) did you have to retrofit from the M5, or was it simply a case of running some wires to the engine harness connector? I have an E36 M3 Evo motor and box I am going to fit, although the s62 conversion still really appeals to me.Thanks in advance, ConradOriginally posted by glenn s62i've transplanted an e39 m5 engine and box into an e30.
