I wish I had the budget for an ecoboost, but unfortunately I'm a college kid. I believe within the last year Ford released a stand alone engine management system that makes an ecoboost swap much easier.

'86 325es 5 speed- cosmetic mods, working out an engine swap

2000 Audi a4 quattro wagon 5 speed- bigger turbo, 20 lbs of boost, Porsche brakes, lowered on coilovers all around, aftermarket interior, etc.

'96 Camaro z28 6 speed- long tube headers, ORY, borla catback- the car sounds good, and does good burnouts... and that's all it does well

Well today was a big day for me, I cut a chunk out of the bellhousing for the starter and got the transmission bolted to the engine! I still need to confirm that the input shaft is in fact centered in the crankshaft, then I need to make a pilot bushing and confirm that my clutch package looks like it should work. I'm trying to figure out where and when I can pull the engine out of the e30 and start getting this engine in.

Relatively heavy, close to 500 pounds fully dressed. My understanding is that this is around a 100 pounds heavier than the M20 currently in the car. While I wish I was reducing weight, not adding it, this is a compromise I'm willing to take for several reasons: these engines can be gotten for very CHEAP, I'm hoping to be making close to 250hp which is a big step up from the M20, and finally despite what people say, I'm not super worried about the extra 100 pounds inhibiting my performance. This is just a street car, and I can add a 200 lb passenger in and barely notice the difference. Furthermore, people regularly turbo cars and don't complain that it ruined the handling characteristics of a car, and turbo kits usually weight upwards of a 100 pounds.

So slightly heavier than the M30 (around the weight of an S38), but the weight will be further back with the V6... will be totally fine.
