Hammer will definately work. That metal is flimsy as shit right there. you can probably use a plastic toy hammer

I've seen people weld in the supports from a convertible in there too

You might want to weld in triangular tabs from the strut bars to the inside walls... it's what the Swedes did when they cut those bits off.
