if the e28 524TD mount is thinner, I wonder if the 3 series TD would be?
Has anyone ever shaved a mount?
the Finland Alpina 335i project is running E39 528i mounts, wonder if that would help?

It's an auto with the round plug (in the picture above I had the manual tps for test fitting), yesterday I adjusted the hood to the highest position and it helped a bit. I am going to modify the plug connector itself to give it more space as well. I was just double checking that I didn't screw something up (aka space in front of the rack for example)..Last edited by Jean; 09-12-2009, 08:03 AM.

My TPS lightly rubs on the underside of the hood too, though I'm using and auto (round plug) TPS.
In your pictures you just posted it looks to me like you have the manual (square plug) TPS fitted. If it is really bothering you, the cheapest and easiest way to fix it is to adjust the hood up slightly to get more clearance like you said.
That is what I'm going to do anyway, but it only lightly rubs and does not really bother me.

Well, unless the mounts are wrong there isn't much I can do to move the engine around. They matched the subframe mounting holes and all and there isn't more than maybe 1/4" of room
between the back of the head and firewall.... any ideas?
There isn't 1" of room height wise between the rack and oil pan, the room is infront of the rack towards the back of the oil pan sump.
What oil pan and mounts do you have and how much room is between the rack and back of the oil pan sump?
Here is how they are mounted

Something is messed up if you got a whole inch from the rack
to the pan. :(

Jean,
Check out the nanopure filters from AMSoil - they appear to be better filters and higher flow than K+N. I'm buying one for my M30 swap and will custom fab a heat shield.

Using Joe Funks b35 engine arms, but maybe I need different rubber mounts or need to set the hood at the highest setting....

whoa, what engine brackets do you have?
It's way way too high if it's touching.

Any of you guys experience clearance issues between the TPS and hood?
My hood is touching the TPS, and twice so far I had to adjust the auto TPS as it actually knocked it ouf of place and bumped my idle up. I got a nice rub mark where it rubs against the tps connector/plug dead center lol.
I am currently using e30 325i engine/tranny mounts, maybe I need to switch to something else to lower the whole thing down maybe 1/4 of an inch...Last edited by Jean; 09-10-2009, 06:52 AM.

try to find a pic of one, it would be easy to copy if he doesn't make them anymore, just get a better filter than the K&N...
I am going to come up with something as I am running those E30M30 headers with mine...
