Ok, so I wasn't expecting this to be as rev happy as my old civic (b16), but with all the claims of the power once in the rev range, I'm not incredibly satisfied that I'm making all the power I should be with my m42. Since purchase I've done a COP kit, mess under the intake, new plugs, new air filter, and had a muffler welded in (stupid cheap muffler sounds like crap).
Things I think are problems and will be fixing:
1. timing chain tensioner - awful racket from front of motor, dissipates once engine temp climbs high enough. (possibly too heavy of oil?, possible stuck lifter?)
2. Cracked/leaking exhaust manifold - I can hear an exhaust leak somewhere but have not pinpointed it, but it sounds as though its in the region of the header at the collector?
What else? Perhaps my cat is old and crapped up? I've tried driving for a while to burn it out, but who knows....
It just feels like it's not breathing as well as it should for the RPM that I'm pulling (also guessing at RPM due to tach failure, but it works sometimes lol)
I'll be pulling the A/C as soon as possible, but have never actually used it so it shouldnt be too much parasitic loss there..
Other suggestions?
