It's the input shaft bearing in the transmission. When you depress the clutch pedal it disconnects the input shaft from the engine, and the noise goes away.

Ya, thats sounds like it could be my issue. I'll try and get a video up today...see if that helps. It seems to 'wind' up and down with acceleration

I suspect you're hearing 2 different things, but try MTL in your transmission and see if
it quiets down. You're hearing ALL the gears when you're in neutral, and they're unloaded.
For some reason, that sometimes makes them LOUDER, not quieter.

High speed whine in my experience is usually the diff.
And some noise at high speed is a sign that it's older- but not necessarily dead yet.
But if your trans is dry, then I bet I'm wrong!

        t
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

My trans had 265k on it. It whines terribly even when topped off with fluid. All the same symptoms as yours but i bet mines worse.

You can hear my tranny over my exhaust. I can hear the
Syncros work when i put it in first while rolling .

Its a common thing with getrag 240s . They arnt built nearly as well as 260s.
