ah, cool. I was hoping someone would point out the flaws of my ignorance.

    I like learning things.

So what would a decent exhaust setup be? Would 2.25" (stock size) from the downpipe to a high flow muffler be acceptable?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I'm still stoked on this kit, I'll have the cash ready soon, but I'm also curious as the what exhaust we should run. Isn't the tune somewhat dependent on what exhaust we are running?

A turbo LOVES the lack of back pressure. It helps it spool faster. A stock exhaust with a different muffler probably really wouldn't be too bad. But a good setup would be 2.5" back through a couple of straight through mufflers or glass packs. The turbo itself will quiet things down and two glass packs will end up with a quiet setup (if that's what you want).

The plan is to mock up the kit (at least turbo and intercooler placement next Friday when I have a day off.) Pictures will be posted

            I'm interested

I'm interested as well. Would like to see finished results first though.

Just to be clear: this would be a bolt on kit for a stock M42 on an E30 keeping AC and power steering right? Suitable for a daily driver? Includes all required parts (except a more free flowing exhaust is recommended, but not included) is this correct?

Also, would my sock radiator and cooling hold up?

            Comment

Yes it will be a bolt on kit to a STOCK m42...yes keeping ac and power steering. Your stock radiator will be fine.

Hoping to start on it next friday.

My pants are tight in anticipation.

Of course, please as much as possible not cut anything behind the front valence if you don't have to in order to fit the IC.

                :)

Didn't see this posted on 2002 faq. Any info on the 2002 M42 swapped cars? I'm interested but this is a half a year out for me. If this is a one time deal, I might be better off piecing my own together down the road.

But I will be ordering mounts soon... finally...

I am going to do my best to build it to limit any cutting of the valance. More than likely if you want to keep AC a smalllll bit of the inner valance is going to have to come off. Just so you have room for a pusher fan as well as the AC condenser. I can always make the intercooler mounts adjustable so if you were not keeping AC you could move the intercooler in closer.

haha, don't want that NA m42 to feel left out...

I didn't post this on the FAQ because right now the bolt on kit will be based around an e30. The 2002 kit is possible (have already built one...and have a jig for the manifold) but the rest wasn't jigged. It will be coming eventually tho....

The kits will be available after this first one. Each kit will be built when ordered.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I didn't see it if so-

Will you sell components? Might want to use your mani/downpipe, but not the intercooler, have other plans for that. Order could look like "manifold, downpipe, turbo, injectors, tune".

Yes once the kit is built you will be able to buy JUST certain parts of it.
