Interest in a studded valve cover bolt kit?

    Building up from this thread...

I'm a college student with a world of time and a love for M42's. I have actually studded my valve cover like buttchugzzz did here

I've got access to the resources available to make a kit. It would include

    • 13 studs
    • 13 nuts
    • 13 washers
    • 13 rubber victor reinz seals

You'd torque them down using a the double nut method, as there aren't any allen key recessed studs available for M6. Red Loctite so that they don't spin off when you're removing the nut.

The benefits are, you're not removing the stud from the cylinder head as you would with the OEM bolts and weakening the threads that are already weak from factory. Plus makes putting a valve cover on a breeze (not that it's terribly too hard to begin with).

If there's interest I'd go ahead and make the kit.
And if there is, what kind of prices are you guys willing to pay for?

Ill definitely be interested in the future. I plan on refreshing another m42 within a year to put in my car, and I'd put this on it.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

In for a set. But the studs need to be shorter than the ones pictured.

              I'd pay 25-35 bucks for a set I think.

Studs do seem a bit long, definitely in for a kit.

The studs will look more natural once the rubber seal and washer is in place.

Going to try and get this rolling in the next week:)

My valvecover is currently off to do a bunch of timing stuff, so I'd get a set if you start selling them soon.

I just helicoiled all of mine but I'm interested. How many monies you want?

You should talk to Ryan (kalib0y) about setting this up and maybe doing some interesting finishes/color choices on the hardware.

Would these still work if some our holes are already a little stripped? Or do we need to helicoil then stud?

You should still helicoil the stripped threads.
