    Quick question: bolt torque spec

Hey everyone, was seeing if someone could help me with this, these four bigger bolts that hold the alternator and bolt onto the block, what's their torque spec? The alternator isn't the lightest thing so I don't want them too loose, and then again my worst nightmare is to strip a bolt, I found the specs for the oil filter housing right next to it, just cant find this one, thanks guys

those go into the cast iron block. You will have a fun time trying to strip those. Just get them snug and then 1/4 turn past that and your good.

the rule is if the hardware goes into aluminum chances are its 10-15 lb feet. if the hardware threads into cast iron its not so specific unless its head bolts

Things like alternator brackets and AC brackets just need to be tight.

I beleave those are 8X1.5 (check and see) and look like they say grade 8.8, probably do about 17 ft lbs

There are lots of general torque charts online like this one.

8X1.25 bolts (12 or 13 mm wrench size) generally are 24Nm ish or 17 ft lbs as 10Toes expertly recommended. Aside from his thread pitch being loco.

Sounds like I should go back and re-torque the bolts I just did :(

Your right, it's the M10's that are 1.5
