    straight swap m42 to m44?

wondering if its possible to do a straightforward swap from a m42 to m44 engine. Can I still use the same tranny and driveshaft from my m42?

    probably not in an E30.

E36 is not exactly straightforward, but do- able.

I don't see why this wouldn't be any more difficult than a 24v. Less power, of course. I have a complete M44 going in my car that I'm going through the engine first so it's taking a Long (LONG) time. I have full wiring w/ DME, EWS and key. Will prob just delete the EWS with a chip or flash whichever. I haven't looked into the wiring yet, I'm guessing it will be the hardest part. GL finding one that the head isn't cracked on also.
You say "Where are your other two cylinders?"
I say "Where's your other camshaft?"

it can be done but everything has to swap over. basically you are swapping in the m44 long block. You use m42 intake m42 oil pan upper and lower.
