    Clutch Chatter

    have a new build with rhd lw flywheel on a new oe sachs kit and to bearing. least i think it's all sachs .. have to double check it lol
    heard some new interesting stuff and after running it a bit carefully realized it was clutch chatter.

    was actually a relief as i was thinking deeper engine issues at first.

    is it really anything to be worried on ? have never had a car with it before ..

    it's not something that really bothers me on this build, but i was wondering if i should maybe consider a stronger clutch at some point.
    everything's hooking up pretty good right now but it's all new and needs to bed in.

    I have the same flywheel with a spec clutch. I believe because of the lightened flywheel there is less dampening. Now all of my mounts and bushings are delrin and hard. So I get vibrations anyway. But I believe there is a bit of noise because of the flywheel.

      Normal sprung clutch disk with a full contact surface?

      How many miles do you have on the new setup?
      A brand new lightweight flywheel and clutch will chatter for about 1000km until it breaks in.

      Revving it up a little more or holding/slipping it longer at the engagement point can help until you get some miles on it.


      More aggressive setups like puck clutches, (or non-sprung clutch disks) may chatter permanently with a light flywheel, which is one of the reasons they're less "street friendly"

        yeh it's just a stock clutch set up. both yours and soda's posts make a lot of sense. i just changed the break in oil out of it, it doesn't have a pile of miles yet. everything has been hooking up pretty good and it's all a bit smoother now.
