    Clutch rattle or more?

i run an rhd lightweight flywheel on a stock stack. after installing i noticed clutch rattle which is normal for a lot of lightweight flywheels and is not much of a concern normally. however i've noticed recently after running in higher temps that the noise is loads more pronounced, it lessens once the car has cooled or sat for a while.

i was curious what others have experienced.

i'm also wondering if this could be related to the getrag death rattle which is related to a layshaft in the trans. i'm not sure if it pipes up when it is warmer or if it remains the same. there is no noise in gear or when the clutch is engaged, only when at idle in neutral.

My theory was always that the rattle is somewhat damped by gear lube,
and thus, hot thin oil lets it rattle a lot more than cold thick goo.
I came up with that theory one winter when I realized my normally- noisy
gearbox had been dead quiet... in the snow...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

yes, its definitely just the viscosity damping things.
