    m42 flywheel swap

i recently bought a m20 flywheel and pressure plate/clutch from a member here about 5 months ago for my 318is and i finally gathered all my necessary parts for the swap. well i took it to a friend to do the swap for me. and he ended up telling me that the clutch and pressure plate are squeezed together and he said it doesnt seem right to him. he looked at the flywheel and told me that the flywheel doesnt have an indentation on where the clutch will sit on? my question is are all M20 single mass flywheels are the same? or is there a specific m20 flywheel that will fit for my M42?

pretty sure any single mass m20 fly will work. What indentation? The pressure plate either bolts up or it doesnt...

he said it bolts on but also said the flywheel needs an indentation so the pressure plate and flywheel sits flush. he said when he put it on that there squeezed together soo much that it will always be in gear.

Make sure you put that spacer ring BEHIND the flywheel, against the crank.

yea the spacer is between flywheel and crank. and also he told me that the clutch should spin freely when the pressureplate is bolted to the flywheel. is this true?

Incorrect. It's the opposite. Once the pressure plate is bolted down the clutch is locked in place.

LOL and im sure that ring goes ontop of the flywheel under the head of the bolts..... infact im positive it does. why would you space the flywheel off the crank.... thats a terrible idea asking for disaster

its a m20 fly swap you gay boi phaggot.

It requires that amount of space to clear the upper pan so you are in fact WRONG. Dont clutter threads up when you know nothing about the subject.

so all of it together should look like this?
and what side of the clutch goes up or down because one side of the clutch sticks out?
