Will a 1991 IX rear diff fit in a 1991 325i? Im looking to get an LSD and there's one out of a 1991 325ix but I'm not sure it's the same.

Pretty much just means that one wheel will spin 10% of a rotation before it looks in. Most LSD diffs are around 40-50% So it will go better in the snow but it can make you car a little more tail happy.Comment

So I bought the diff and subframe since it only has 53k on it.
Now from what I can tell the sucker can bolt right up so that's good. I'm going to put poly bushings in it from Ireland engineering as well:) But here's my question, in the future, when I can afford it, I'm going to put in Ground Control Coilovers so should I put in camber adjustments now or then?1991 325i Calypso Coupe

Do the camber corrects now if it's feasible, just to save some work.
I have a ix 4.10 rear diff in my cabby and its not really that tail happy (I believe it has some wear on it though).Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment

the VC won't survive long for drifting.. you'd be better off with a clutch type LSD built for that purpose.
if it's just a DD or used for autox/HPDEs it'll be fine though.Comment

heh, ninja quote.. see my updated post :p
when it works it works well. at 51k miles it should be like new. Mine isn't totally dead but I can tell it's not 100% anymore (~260k).. it just doesn't rotate like it should anymore, and I can feel the loss of traction in the rear especially on the inside corner. but that's after years of hard use!Comment

if your car already has an original LSD unit it will be a clutch type unit and honestly better for all purposes than the Viscous unit.
the viscous unit is really weak compared to the bmw clutch type unit; the Xi model e30's don't need as aggressive a rear LSD as they have..... all wheel drive!
viscous LSD units are common in lower Subaru AWD models as well; STi models have Gear type rear LSD or Clutch type for ultimate performance.OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25
Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30
