Transmission sitting for 14 years- good?

    Hey guys,

Found a G240 trans for my car nearby low miles. But it has been sitting in inventory for 14 years. I reckon with a fluid flush and new seals it would be good. What do you guys think?

Wow, but I would give it a good flush, and let it heat up before going for a drive.

I'd buy it. I can't imagine why there would be anything wrong with it.

Figured there wouldn't be a problem if it was sitting.

Make sure the nub that goes into the pilot bearing is not rusted from sitting that long. Same for the rear flange mating area where it meets the seal. Sounds like you are planning new seals anyway - good idea. You probably know this, but make sure to seal the flange splines with Kuril or something comparable when changing the seal.

If it had GL5 in it, sitting might hurt it.

            otherwise, it's fine.
