    ATF fluid

What is the total capacity cooler/lines torque converter and all? Bentley says 3.2 quarts, but that's just drain and fill for the pan right?

I would purchase 4 quarts total. After you drain it and change the filter then put three quarts in. Start the car up and let it get warm, run it through each gear, check fluid and add as needed.

IMHO, if you have the option, dump the slushbox and swap w/ a 5 speed. Automatics make E30s feel so helpless when I drive one.

I just put a new (used) transmission in it from Rigmaster, so everything was drained. The problem is I've already got 4 quarts in it and it doesn't show on the dipstick........

As for the 5 speed I was gonna do that, but in the interests of time (as I have only one car, the missus drives the VW) I needed it done quick, so no time/cash consuming swap just yet.

if the torque converter is dry is will hold 6-8 quarts

the 3.2 qrts is just a drain+refill spec
