    Any thoughts if I can simply replace boots and repack grease on a joint that's already clicking a little? There's only play on the outer joint as best I can tell laying under the car.

      Sometimes they click because they're dry. But id give it an inspection. Prob fine or prob blow up.

        Grease 'em and see.

        I've never seen a worn- out 2002 CV that had an intact boot.

        BMW CV's on the rears last almost forever.

        The metallurgy on the cheap ones is absolute shit-
        they usually fail almost immediately.

        A 'rebuilt' one that is an OE CV with
        fresh grease and boot is usually OK.
        If they remembered to clean it.
