LSx is not that insane in comparo. I wouldn't waste time with an LT1, there are more go fast parts out there at low used prices for the multi year LSx as opposed to the short run LT1.Comment

The LT1 weighs (somewhere around 530) around 100 more lbs then the LS1. But that is with everything on it. The LT1 can be made to run right with LS1's but most people just chose to do the LSx cause its the newest and most aftermarket support out there. And makes good power. Also if you do an LT1, they sound better :p. Although nither engine is "cheap" to mod.

I'm assuming that you've to get your car from the factory and not try to start a swap like V8 swap if you don't even have an idea of suitable gearboxes or brake booster setups.
