Can someone confirm that e39 540/m5 clutch has the same spline/shaft size as the 5 speed?

If that is true then I shouldn't have a problem finding a flywheel and clutchkit :)

As I mentioned earlier, 5-speed 'box has smaller diameter clutch shaft than the 6-speeder.

well.. the question really is, what clutch will work besides the e34 530 one.

Bruce is running the e39 540i lightweight flywheel (JB Racing) with an m52 (328i/528i) clutch kit. I think he went with the Clutchmasters FX100, and didn't have any slipping issues. There's a few threads in this sub-forum discussing it.

I'll probably end up getting the same kit, unless I can find a sprung hub clutch that can hold the power.

Yes, I will probably go the same way, 540 LW flywheel and m52b28 stage 1 clutch kit

Just orderd LW flywheel from TTVracing.com in England. It will make it possible to use the s50 clutch and pressureplate :)



I will be ordering a s50 clutch kit in a few days aswell.

I went with e39 ltw flywheel/pp/spring hub clutch combo from UUC, 240mm.

Looks like we all have a plethora of different configurations for use of the 6spd tranny!

Well I have the 5 speed transmission soo I could have gone 540 lw Flywheel 240mm clutch and m52b28 clutch+pp

But the company only had e34 540 flywheel wich uses the 265mm clutch and that does not work with 5 speed tranny ;)

I think this will be a better option since the stock s50b32 clutch can hold at least 321hp :)

I was asking how much the flywheel was cause the site that sells it doesn't have a price posted.
