whoa i have never seen that, I will have to play around a little with that later on.forget about ET far too many factors, i would agree with the trap speed using fox's calculator

Thanks.. my goal is to get 12.9x traction have always been an issue,, but the car sprints ahead,,
there was made a GPS calculator.. on the car (( those GPS measurement should be very accurate)) ,,
anyway ,,
calculated i am having 306 hp at the rear wheel and 386 nm/ 284 lbs of torque
The engine is MAF deleted,, and running ALPHA/N ((like S54))
IMO the engine is powerful in HP ,, and LOTS of torque
With these GPS calculation,, some oem cars have been tested ,, and they are showing almost identical numbers as oem figures..
weight.. cd.. tires height of vehicle etc etc .. must been put in the program .. so as correct facts can be used.. as possible
we think that 1:1 gearing is that that shows the most correct result.. this is all based on flying run.. in 3rd or 4th or 5th if vehicle is 6 speed....... ALL CARS goes through the same ......
Some says that different gears should not show different results,, others do not agreeSveinbjörn Hrafnsson

using the Fox's calculator, a 2700 lb car w/ 300 bhp should run high 12s to low 13s, which sounds about right.
I'll try to make it a goal to break into the 12s with my E28. Of course it will have the hybrid M60B44 in it, with hopefully over 300 bhp. Obviously I'll also need some sticky rubber, decent suspension and some weight loss.Comment
-
For reference, Todd from TCD ran low 12s in his turbo E28. At the time, I believe he had dynoed close to 400hp and torque.Comment
-
sounds about right. It took a lot for my buddy's 90s mustang to get into the 12s, which included a complete built from scratch engine making ~300-400hp, and drag slicks, and he barely broke into the 12s.
That said, I still want my E28 to break 12s. Maybe a twin screw... ;)Comment

Finally got back to the drag strip. Conditions were similar to last time (July 2012), temps were in the mid to high 80's.
The car is 2680lbs, m60b40 with chip, cone filter, full dual 2.5" exhaust w/o cats. 5 speed ZF310 with Clutchmasters FX100 m52 clutch. 235/40/17 Sumitumo HTRZ-II's.
There was tons of grip, the track was prepped great. I wasn't spinning at all, and definitely could have launched with more throttle.
The only change in the car since my runs in 2012, was switching from a 3.25 LSD to a 2.93 LSD.
2013:

2012

At least I was consistent this year. The trap speed sucks even worse then last year though. I've seen stock e34 540i/6's with higher trap speeds. So I'm definitely down on power. Still trying to figure out what's wrong with the damn thing. I may hit up a dyno just to get a baseline to see where I'm at.Comment

I did some reading, and if you subtract your 1320' time from your 330' time, you get a good indication of your power consistency without the traction factor. This year, my 330'-1320' were all 7.92-7.99. Last year, they were 7.86-7.89. I'm guessing that's the difference between the 2.93 and 3.25, the torque multiplication. If I add my best 330' from this year, when I was hooking up, to my best 330'-1320' time from last year, when I had the 3.25, I get a 13.498. The 3.25 was not the reason I wasn't hooking up, it was track prep (or lack thereof). So, theoretically, the difference between the 3.25 and 2.93 is worth about .1-.2 seconds and 1-2 MPH.
I don't really care about drag racing, my car certainly wasn't built to drag race, I just really like getting the data and seeing how changes you make affect acceleration. I would have thought that a diff ratio change would do a lot more then what my times show.
That's what I'm thinking. I'm going to recheck compression, and pick up the timing tools. If I don't get it sorted by the end of this summer, I'm buying a different m60, and an m62, building a hybrid, and not using a single nut or bolt from my current setup. And if I still have my issues after that, I'm going to jump off a bridge.Comment

I've got the M62 in my '84 with what I was told is a 2.93 diff. I have my doubts because the gears seem really short. But I don't grip very nicely in 1st and 2nd. So I'd assume my quarter time isn't all that impressive. But damn if it isn't fun to drive..Comment

FINALLY, another e30 m60 1/4 mile time! Thanks for posting.
You trapped 5mph faster then me. I need to get back to the track now that mine is running right and see if I can match your speed. I'm running a 2.93 so I don't know if I'd be able to.
How's traction with the 3.46? I guess pretty good if you pulled a 1.94 60'. Any pics of your headers?Comment
-
Traction is ok, for those cheap Nankang street tires. But hopefully next time i have something better..
I don't have pictures of those headers, but both sides are 4-2-1 style and they goes like this: Primary 15"+4"collectors ID 1.45. Secondary 21"+6"collectors ID 1.88". Tailpipe before first silencer is about 25" long ID 2.12".
Sorry my bad english..
