Yeah the oil pan was toast from me driving to the off ramp after the rod went. The stater was salvagable but the more carnage makes for a better coffee table! Plus who isn't going to redline an engine with a hole in the block?

Started bolting more parts on the m60b44. Headers from Bulgaria, Lightweight flywheel, Riot racing reground cams. Had Matt build me another oil pan to clear the sub frame and also installed a South Bend Clutch Stage 2 endurance clutch pack.

Dropped the new engine in the car last month. Had some trouble getting the clutch to bleed but eventually figured it out! First start video attached. With the new cams this thing at idle has a nice lope to it. The engine pulls great and is definitely stronger than my once healthy m62. Still breaking in the clutch, but I should be past 500 miles before my dyno tuning session. Hopefully the virus wont affect the dyno time. Should be posting results next month!

What are the cam specs, and what did they charge you to regrind? How much power did it make before they started the custom tune, and what chip was in it at that point? Was the stock tune okay with those cams, or was it way off?

I can't imagine my m60b44 is making more than 280whp, which is what another member of bf.c dyno'd his m60b44 at. ~25-30whp gain seems reasonable for headers, mild cams, and a tune. Makes it harder to justify a ~330whp s62!

Cam Specs were copied from Cat Cams. Riot racing did the regrind using standard measurements compared to metric on cat cams but the profiles are the same.

Stock m60 cams were reground to BMW M60 SPORT CAM : 214/210 DUR @.050" .381"/.370" LOBE LIFT

To get the same profile as cat cams. I attached their profiles.

The car was running decent on the reground cams before the Dyno tune. At that time I was running was Sssquid m62 obd1 stage 1 chip. It had some studering and lean issues at partial throttle but was drivable. Dynoed around 286hp/277wtq.

It most definitely feels better than my m62 obd1 after the tune. Runs much smoother and happier now as well.

Cams were around $1k to get reground.

Took the e30 to VIR this past weekend for NCe30 Oktoberfest. Did some great skidpad run on a autox they setup and also got a few hot laps on the main course. Car and engine did great.

Got the car weighed as well. 3/4 tank of gas, full interior minus rear seat back, lukebox 10" and amp plus rollbar. No driver

2881 pounds, I'm happy with that but would like to get it down in the 2700s by next year. I will be upgrading to fixed back seats and harness for next year.
