Down pipes and gutted cats are in. I need to way to trick the secondary O2 sensors so I don't have a CE light on all the time. I am thinking I can tap into the primary and run a resistor or buy those O2 spacers that trick them into thinking the cats are there and working.

Mach up - Thought it looked pretty cool.

Waiting on my C101 and then I can start the wiring. Still need to tweak and reinforce the remote booster and run all the plumbing.

For those that have gone the M60/M62 route - has anyone kept power steering?

If so did you re-use the cooling line or get a customer banjo fitting for the power steering to the rack?

Hoping for some help from the community.

All my mechanical is done. Driveshaft, booster, brakes, clutch, etc. I am stuck on the wiring. Here is my current setup.

        1997 M62 OBDII engine harness
Tuned 88 pin 1997 540i ECU with EWS delete
        1998 non-vanos motor

Here is labeled C101, 2 relayed on the engine harness, white plug off the harness and DME (not plugged in).

I've got power and ground to everything (sloppy for now)

This is where I am confused. I know the black wire leads to my starter, but what about the rest?

I can get the starter to engage by hooking up 12v to it, I can get the fuel pump going. When I crank it with fuel pressure it doesn't fire up.

        What am I missing?

For the record here is the C101 and DME pinout for this setup:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to get this thing running before winter hits.

Make sure you have the right pin out for the 318is. The 91 has a different pin out than the 90 and earlier.

              Car is running.

Just need to fix the brakes now as they are going all the way to the floor and sticking there. Either air in the line or a blown slave, which wouldn't makes sense since I should be able to see fluid and I don't.

                Audio is crap.

Going to have someone take one from the outside or get the gopro setup for one last vid before tear down so the motor can be heard.

Need to install my coils, BBK, and possibly a cage. Also need to redo the exhaust - the one I made is WAY too low.

Thing is like a big boy go cart on an ice rink. The 4.10 is laughable.

                      Thank you sir.

Ended up changing engine harnesses and going with a tuned ews deleted 1997 setup.

Picked up a spare motor. Now I can throw some nitrous at mine and not worry.

Also, starting to research a M62B46 rotating assembly M60 head hybrid. Has anyone ever heard of it?

The alpina m62b46? or the 4.6 that came in the later x5s?

Later X5. Doing some research now. Seems like everything bolts up though.

How did you get the EWS deleted? Everyone I've approached with the same request says they can't delete the EWS from the DME.

First I just wired the EWS in then I sent it out to a shop to tune the ECU and they deleted the EWS while they had it.
