    M60b40 w 5speed. Clutch and flywheel?

This is a question for e30 m60 swap with 5 speed.
I see some guy said the e36 328 clutch with the e39 540i flywheel will work.
Also heard someone used a 530i flywheel n clutch and no slipping

Does anyone know how accurate these combos are? And also what do you recommend?

I used the e36 328i Clutchmasters FX100 clutch with my Zf320, it lasted 10k miles and then started slipping. Then I switched to a SPEC stage 1 328i clutch, but swapped to a 6 speed setup 1k miles later, so no idea how long that would have lasted.

For every person that says a 530i clutch holds up fine behind an m60b40, there is someone who says it slips. Maybe it's borderline adequate...

The difference in the slippers and non-slippers could just be launch technique...

I used to have a Centerforce in my Northstar Fiero. If I fed it very carefully and made sure the clutch was fully engaged before I went to WOT, then it would launch well. If I got to wide open throttle before the clutch was fully engaged, the clutch would not pull the engine back down.

Sometimes technique means everything in getting a marginal clutch to survive.

Very well could be. I know the issue with my first clutch is that it simply wore out too quick. It held 100% fine, never slipped once, for 10k miles. Didn't matter how I launched it. Then one day, it started slipping, and got exponentially worse. Within another couple hundred miles, I couldn't go full throttle at all. Maybe I abused it too much, but 10k miles is NOT a good life span, I do that mileage in 6 months. m62b44's came from the factory with organic 240mm clutches that lasted a long time, no reason an aftermarket one can't be made to last, especially in a lighter car. Maybe the m52 stage 1 pressure plate doesn't have enough clamping force?

I mean if you have a m60 v8 in the little e30.. Ur going to be very tempted to slam that gas pedal down from time to time. Sooo what's my best bet?
My original plan was doing the 328i stage 1 clutch. U think I should stick with that? And the flywheel to use would be e39 540 flywheel right?

You won't be able to use the 328I clutck disc on the flywheel because the flywheel has a lip around it. the only way you can use that clutch kit is if you have a lightweight flywheel, that way there is no lip in the center. The only other option is pretty impossible, is to source out a 530i clutch disc and a 328i pressure plate but most places won't sell the 530i clutch disc separately so that would be a problem, best result for a affordable clutch/flywheel combo might just be the 530i v8 clutch kit but i dont know if the pressure plate bolts on the e39 flywheel.... You wont be able to use the 540i e39 clutch kit cause of the spine differences in the shaft (ask me how i know...)

I cant remember were i read it but the only way you can use a 5 speed is to use the M60b30 set up but then you will have to have it custom made to for it to hold the extra power. i may have to go this route since I'm slightly modding my M60b30 (just want to be different)...lol

If you don't need a lightweight flywheel you could just use the original 530i v8 flywheel and clutch, I have this setup om my car for 70.000 km and still no slipping, I did resurface the flywheel and used a new sachs clutch, it is pretty strong because sachs uses the exact same pressure plate on the 535i v8 e39

I might just do that 530i flywheel n clutch set up then.. And hope for the best.
                  Thanks

Just make sure you get the latest batch of pressure plates because you want the pressure plate that is also delivered for the 535i e39 , bit I think thats the only they even make now

I'm using the e39 m5 flywheel with e39 530i clutch and e34 530i pressure plate. Bolts up nicely, have yet to test it though. This is mating to a NV m62 in my e30.

                        Is it possible to use a M5 e39 doublemass flywheel with a 328i e36 clutch ?
Here its easier to find a m5 flywheel than a 530i

Do you think it's risky to shave down the lip off the center of the e39 540i flywheel
That's the only thing keeping the e36 clutch from working right?
That seems a whole lot easier.. Or is that crazy
If I can get some feedback on that..

I would just end up buying a 530I V8 clutch kit then shave it but that's just me
