Starting Issue?

I have an intermittent starting issue. Sometimes, my 88 320i fires right up but then other times it cranks but won’t fire. Not a battery issue, as I have a new battery. I keep it in a battery tender, and the other day it started on the first key turn but then when I shut it off after 2 mins it would not re-fire.

I’m wondering if it is my ignition coil?

could be a number of things. first would be any number of possible air leaks. it's also a common symptom for a failing fpr or leaking injectors. smoke test the car to find and eliminate the air leaks, and tee a pressure gauge on to the fuel rail to test the fpr and injectors.
