5 Point Mounting For E30 Race Car

    Hi all -

I purchased an E30 S50 swap race car a few years back, and the belts and seat were pretty beat up.

I recently replaced the seat with an OMP, install was easy, but when I was replacing the belts, the bolt for the driver's side right waist belt would not thread properly. It is either stripped, or the 7/16-20 bolt I got which I am fairly sure is OEM isn't the right size.

Regardless, I drilled another hole at the same height about 6 inches further back and then threaded the hole. It came out fine, but it doesn't feel strong enough.

I am trying to think of another way to mount the waist belts that do not use the OEM hole on the driver's side. Any ideas? I see OG Racing has plates made with a 7/16 nut, but the floor behind the seat isn't flat enough to take this plate IMO. Here is the link - https://www.ogracing.com/collections...rness-mounting

    I appreciate any advice!

Those work great, some seat brackets have provision for the Lap Belts. Reference installation instructions to make sure you get the harness angles correct.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

Thanks! They should be 45 degrees. Any idea for an ideal mounting point? I'm still unsure where a flat plate will fit behind the seat.

What does your sanctioning body have to say about this?
It would suck to do something to find it's not legal...

As to mounting harnesses, the stock belt mounts have reinforcement plates sandwiched in behind them.
Very much like what you linked, but spot- welded in place.

Most sanctions specify a plate and bolt size, and you can conform that to the body, or conform the body to that,
depending on what works best. Personally, I like a welded- in plate, but having proof- tested the flat bolted
        plate, it works just fine.
