I recently inherited a 1984 318i, and I’m planning to hopefully get it back to good driving condition this summer. I haven’t started it yet since I want to drain the old fuel first at least, but I have turned the key to ignition on, and when I do I get a loud whine from the dash that sounds a lot like a piezoelectric buzzer. It plays/whines the whole time the key is turned, but it changes pitch sometimes when I turn the ignition off and on again. Just reading around on this forum, it doesn’t look like there’s a buzzer in the dash (but I could be wrong), so I’m confused what could be causing it. Any ideas? If it would help I can share a video of it but I’ll need to figure out how to convert it to a format that I’m allowed to post. Thanks in advance for any help

I've also got an 84 318i, early 83 production date if that makes any difference. the door chime is a little different than any other e30 ive seen(only seen US models, so can't speak for euro). The door buzzer you're talking about looks like a small relay and is nestled in the steering column plastic shroud, unlike other e30s which have a door chime as seen above84 325e, Saphirblau Metallic/Houndstooth Sport, OBD-2 M52B28/ zf320
