    Cruise Control Problems

New here so be kind to the newbie :^)

    Have an 1991 325ic Auto
    CC not working.
Have checked all brake lights and cleaned all connectors.
Also removed rear seat and checked main ground to brake lights.
    Fuses all good
    Replaced brake switch
    Replaced Under hood actuator
    Replaced computer
    Replaced steering column switch

    Did I miss something ???

I noticed a switch on the gear selector under the center console. When I got the car it looked like the previous owner had spilled a drink down the center console and this switch open at the top. Does this switch have anything to do with the CC ?

That might have something to do with telling the ECU whether or not the car is in park or drive. If its in park or neutral you can't use the cruise control. That may very well be your problem.

So if I unplug the switch it shouild, not allowing the ground to happen, tell me - right?

I think that if the switch is not functioning, its stuck in open switch mode, which won't let you use the CC. It'll always think that the car is in park or neutral. I have this same issue since I did the auto to manual conversion.

With the auto ---> manual don't you need to get the clutch switch for the CC to work?

Nah, the CC Auto Disable is only active when it has 12 volts going through it, so if the wire is damaged/unhooked it won't get 12 volts, and CC will work in P/N

nope, just splice the connector so it thinks the clutch is always engaged

Correct and if the switch at the gear select is damaged - this may be a way of diagnosing the problem

Where is the switch on the gear selector? I looked and don't see one.

I have trouble shot everything else and still have no cc I am about to do another 1400 mile Laredo trip and really would like to have cc.

                              Thanks
