87 325- fan clutch dead? should i go fan delete?

today after taking my mema to lunch i noticed my temp start to go past halfway, then past the 3rd mark and then steam from under the hood so i pulled over into a parking lot. right at the thermostat housing the hose that comes outta the t-stat and points towards the radiator fan and then goes around the plug wires and down is burst right at the t-stat housing. i realize its because my engine fan isnt turning. i tried to move it by hand and it barely moves. so is my fan clutch gone?
also would it be better to replace the fan clutch or go fan delete and lower t-stat? or go electric fan? i was thinking of ordering an electric fan if i can find one to fit

Umm if your fan isn't working and you are overheating, why would you remove it? I guess you could go electric fan, but it'd be easier and cheaper to get a new or working used fan clutch.

In terms of cost, it depends on who you inquire with. I've got plans to overhaul my cars' cooling system next week. One of the items being replaced is the cooling fan/clutch assembly. I located a new one for $80. I have also priced out electric fans. A good one from Spahl (sp?) runs close to $100 and then there's the custom mounting to sort out and wiring in a switch somewhere to turn it on/off.

The only real benefit of going with an electric fan set up is if you're doing a twin-cam or M30 swap where space between the front of the engine and the radiator becomes limited. Besides, deleting the factory clutch-fan set up doesn't really yield any significant gains anyway.

ive thought about going electric even tho its a few bucks more for more airflow and noise
